Dear Holy Name Families,
Dear Families,
As we reach the end of Term 3, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued partnership in nurturing a vibrant, faith-filled learning community. This term has been rich with learning, growth, and connection, and I am incredibly proud of the way our students have embraced challenges, supported one another, and lived out our Mercy values of compassion, hospitality, justice, and excellence.
From classroom achievements to sporting events, creative arts, and community outreach, our students have demonstrated what it means to be engaged learners and global citizens grounded in Gospel values. Their resilience and enthusiasm continue to inspire us all.
I also extend my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated staff, whose commitment to high academic standards and student wellbeing ensures that every child is known, valued, and supported.
As we head into the break, I encourage families to take time to rest, recharge, and enjoy moments of togetherness. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 4, ready to finish the year with energy, purpose, and joy.
Wishing you a safe and restful holiday.
God Bless

APMI News
As we approach the final week of Term Three, I want to take a moment to reflect on the many blessings we’ve experienced as a school community over the past ten weeks.
This term has been rich with opportunities to grow in faith, deepen our relationships, and live out our mission of love, service, and learning. From our beautiful prayer celebrations to the acts of justice shown by our students, staff, and families, we continue to witness the presence of Christ in our everyday moments.
Next term, we will begin preparing for our end-of-year celebrations, including our Advent prayer celebrations and Year 6 Graduation Mass. These are special times where we come together to honour the journey of our students and the hope we carry into the future.
As we head into the break, I offer this prayer for all our families:
Loving God,
Thank You for the gift of this term—
for the learning, the laughter, and the love shared.
Bless our students, staff, and families with rest and renewal.
Keep us safe and bring us back refreshed,
ready to continue our journey in faith and learning.
Amen.
Wishing you all a peaceful and joyful holiday. May it be a time of rest, connection, and gratitude.
Blessings,
Kerri-Ann Manthey

Prep News
It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the end of Term 3 already! One more term to go, and our beautiful Prep students will have completed their very first year of school. Time truly flies when you're having fun—and learning lots!
This term has been packed with memorable moments, and when we asked the students what they enjoyed most, a few highlights stood out:
100 Days of School Celebration
A huge hit with the Preps! From fun activities and tasty snacks to drawing themselves as 100-year-olds, the day was filled with laughter and creativity.
Grandparents Day Prayer Celebration
Our first prayer celebration was a heartwarming occasion. Students loved preparing for the event, using the microphone, and sharing special moments with their grandparents and loved ones.
Book Week Dress-Up
A favourite for many! The students had a blast dressing up as their favourite book characters, dancing in the MEAC, and diving into a world of stories.
Fairytales & Science Fun
We explored classic fairytales—especially the Gingerbread Man, who famously escaped from Mrs Kauter’s oven (yes, there’s video evidence!). In Science, we investigated materials and had a fantastic time designing and creating sun-proof and waterproof hats for our upcoming party.
Throughout Term 3, our students have continued to grow in confidence, curiosity, and creativity. We feel incredibly lucky to teach such a wonderful group of children.
Wishing all our families a safe and happy holiday break. We can’t wait to see what Term 4 brings!
Warm regards,
Mrs Kauter & Mrs Thomas

Year 1 News
As Term 3 comes to a close, we reflect on the incredible learning, laughter, and growth that has filled our classroom. Our Year 1 students have continued to make wonderful progress in their learning, building confidence and skills that will carry them into the final term of the year.
Learning Highlights
This term, our budding readers and mathematicians have been hard at work, exploring new texts, tackling number challenges, and developing their problem-solving abilities. It’s been a joy to see their enthusiasm and determination shine through each day.
We also ventured into the world of technology, learning how to program and navigate Bee Bots. These friendly little robots helped us explore directional language, sequencing, and basic coding skills in a fun and interactive way. The students loved experimenting with commands and watching their Bee Bots follow their programmed instructions.
Faith and Community
In Religion, we explored the wonder of creation, deepening our appreciation for the world around us. A special moment was our pilgrimage around the school, where we reflected on the beauty of God’s work and the message of ‘Hope’. We acknowledged the Feast Day of Mary MacKillop, learning about her inspiring life and legacy and celebrated Grandparents Day, where students and their elderly visitors fingerpainted a family tree, honouring the generations that shape our faith and values, and symbolise the bonds that span generations.
Exciting Visitors
One of the standout moments this term was the visit from the Queensland Fire Department. Students were captivated by the fire safety talk, the impressive tools and equipment, and of course…spraying the fire hose! It was a hands-on experience that sparked curiosity and taught valuable safety lessons.
Music, Theatre & Fun
We sang and danced with joy when Michael Mangan came to visit, his songs are always a hit in Year 1! We also enjoyed a theatrical performance of “The Twits”, which brought storytelling to life in the most delightful way.
Science Week Adventures
Science Week was packed with excitement as students rotated through hands-on experiments, exploring the wonders of the world through observation and discovery. Their curiosity was contagious!
Book Character Parade
Our annual Book Week dress up day was a colourful celebration of literature. Students dressed up as their favourite book characters and proudly showcased their costumes in a joyful parade.
Ball Games Prep
To wrap up the term, we’ve been sharpening our ball skills in preparation for the upcoming Ball Games Carnival. The students have shown great teamwork and perseverance, and we can’t wait to cheer them on at the big event.
Looking Ahead
As we head into the holiday break, we’re already looking forward to the fun, learning, and adventures that Term 4 promises. Thank you for your continued support, we hope you have a safe and restful holiday!
Warm regards,
The Year 1 Team

Year 3 - Sarah McAllister

This term Year 3 have been learning about persuasive texts through our novel study of ‘The One and Only Ivan’. Here’s our co-constructed example:
Animals Must Be Banned from the Circus—It’s the Right Thing to Do!
Animals do not belong in the circus. They are wild, beautiful creatures that deserve freedom—not cages, chains, and cruel tricks. It is completely unfair and absolutely wrong to force animals to perform for entertainment. We must act now. We must ban animals from the circus.
Lions, elephants, and monkeys should be roaming in the wild, not jumping through hoops or balancing on balls. These tricks are not fun for them—they are terrifying. Animals are often trained using fear, punishment, and pain. That is unacceptable.
Would you like to be locked in a tiny cage, taken far from your home, and made to perform every day? Of course not! Animals feel emotions just like we do. They feel stress, loneliness, and fear. Keeping them in circuses is cruel and heartless.
We cannot sit back and let this happen. It is our responsibility to protect animals. Circuses can still be exciting—with clowns, acrobats, and magic—but no animals should suffer for our entertainment. The time to change is now.
We must say it loud and clear: Animals must be banned from the circus! It is the kind, fair, and smart thing to do. Let’s stand up for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Year 3/4 - Stacy Mills
In Religion, we have been learning about the Sacraments. The Sacraments that we have learned about are Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. We have linked these Sacraments to Bible stories. Our favourite part of Religion was the fun activities that involved art. Evodie and Elijah
In Science, we have been learning about heat and energy. Some of the heat formulations that we have been learning about are conduction, radiation and convection. Some of the energy formulations that we have been learning about are gravity, friction, air resistance and magnetism. We have been learning about building and designing a game that involves energy. We made a cool marble run. Olivia and Jessia
During this term in Technology, we learned about coding Dash Bots. We also learned about Scratch Jnr and coding it and creating scenes. Jonathan and Vance
In HaSS we learned about the Toowoomba community. We enjoyed making a PowerPoint about this. We have also been learning about the First Fleet. We created some lapbooks about Explorers and about life in Port Jackson. Joelle and Lincoln
This term in English, we have been creating Hybrid Texts based on the works of the author Claire Saxby. We studied Antarctic animals and researched information about a particular chosen animal and their habitat. I enjoyed writing stories about the Antarctic animals and illustrating the stories. Ella and Angel
In Mathematics, we have learnt about fractions, quadrilaterals, data displays, time and operations. We have been learning about inverse operations, which is where you undo or reverse an operation. Subtraction and addition are inverse operations and so are division and multiplication. Hutchy and AJ

Year 4 - Katie Green
Newsletter Week 10, Term 3, Year 4
How is it the end of Term 3 already? Time has flown—and so have our paper planes! Year 4 has worked incredibly hard this term, and we’ve had an absolute blast along the way.
From singing and dancing at the vibrant Michael Mangan concert to cheering on our classmates at the athletics carnival, our calendar has been packed with joyful moments. One of our standout learning experiences was stepping into the shoes of convict children, writing and presenting persuasive letters to ‘Judge Tindal and Judge Green’ as part of our historical inquiry. The creativity and conviction on display were truly impressive!
This term was all about measuring—time, angles, mass, perimeter, and area. Our budding mathematicians have also explored 2D shapes, learning to name, combine, and create compound shapes. We’re now applying that knowledge to spot patterns in nature and everyday environments around our homes and school.
Our forces unit has been full of hands-on fun! Students designed games and conducted experiments to explore how different forces work—whether it was throwing a ball through a net, playing tug-of-war, or launching paper planes. The excitement and curiosity in the classroom were contagious.
It’s been a term of deep learning, creative thinking, and plenty of laughter. We’re so proud of everything Year 4 has achieved and can’t wait to see what Term 4 brings

Year 5 - Anna Vaessen
We have come to the end of the term 3 and the end of the year is in sight! This term has gone by so quickly, as we have been very busy. The students have continued to work hard in class and are experts at navigating Microsoft Teams for information and submitting assignments. They have completed a chapter for the Wonder book, with some very interesting ideas. Results from their times table testing are excellent with all students showing growth, and most knowing all times tables! I’m very proud of how far they have come in such a short time.
Term 3 was jam packed full of difference experiences and opportunities for our students. We’ve had the Catholic Netball carnival, Michael Mangan concert, sporting carnivals, science rotations, Olympians visit, Feast Day celebrations, Father’s Day breakfast, Pilgrimage around the school collecting from nature to make mandalas, Masses, Shake and Stir performance, Carnival of Flowers displays and a ball games carnival. And now we need a rest. I hope everyone has a restful and safe holiday and is ready to start again in term 4.

Holy Name Cookbook

The Parent Engagement Network (PEN) warmly invites all Holy Name families and members of our school community to contribute a recipe to our special Holy Name cookbook, due for release to coincide with Harmony Day in March 2026.
We are seeking support from Holy Name families who would like to sponsor a page to include a recipe and advertise their business. Please contact the school office if you would like to express interest in sponsoring a page.
We would love for every Holy Name family to have at least one favourite recipe published. This is a chance to share the rich cultural heritage, family traditions, and unique flavours that make our community so vibrant. Whether it’s a dish that reflects your cultural background, a recipe that has been passed down through generations, or a modern family favourite, we want to celebrate the diversity of our school through the food we love.
This venture is not only a celebration of the diverse flavours of our community, but also a fundraiser for our (PEN) to help support the development of a ‘Bush to Basket’ garden for our Holy Name students and community.
Recipes can be uploaded via the following link:
https://cc.recipes/holyname-ps
Alternatively, you can request a paper form from the school office to record and submit your recipe.
Contributors' are encouraged to upload/include one or more images to accompany your recipe — whether it’s the finished dish, the cooking process, or your family enjoying it together. When you submit your recipe, you will be emailed a link that enables you to go back in to edit your recipe and/or add images up until the closing date. Your personal email will not be published.
Please submit your recipes as soon as possible during Term 4. Submissions close on Wednesday 19th November 2025 (Week 7).
Contributors’ family names will be proudly included in the cookbook, and families will have the opportunity to order a copy of the cookbook early next year. Current Year 6 families will have the opportunity to order the book in advance, and it will be forwarded to you in 2026.
